FRIDAY MAY 12TH 2017
Electronic duo Pegboard Nerds concocted exuberant future bass fit for dancefloors, bright anime, or kinetic video games (a major influence on their visual aesthetic). Their sound -- a little future bass, a little dubstep, a lot of chiptune -- was the inspired amalgam of Alexander Odden (Norway) and Michael Parsberg-Hansen (Denmark), a pair of producers whose stage name is an anagram of their last names. Starting in 2005, they released a string of EPs and remixes, including a pair of collaborations with Splitbreed. A decade into their pairing, they started a campaign in 2015 called Operation Pink Cloud, aimed at ending breast cancer. The Pink Cloud EP featured guest turns from Max Collins, Johnny Graves, and Jonny Rose.
W/ SPECIAL GUESTS
The London duo has established themselves by pushing boundaries within the bass music scene and also staying true to their roots in Grime and Hip-Hop. From numerous U.S. tours, to sharing a tour bus for two months with Keys N Krates, and several successful trips around the globe that have brought them to Australia, China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and beyond, over the past few years Stooki Sound have smashed through these global tours that showcase the duo’s unique blend of Grime, Trap, Electronica, and HipHop, as well as Jelacee’s debut as the group’s lead vocalist.
Aged just 20, Joker is an immensely precocious talent, he burst onto the Dubstep and Grime scenes in 2008 with the vibrant 'Grimey Princess' and 'Gully Brook Lane' which were released on Earwax and Plastician's Terrorhythm imprint respectively. His productions possess a rare duality of intense and nonchalant energy, the soundtrack to a pimp on an interstellar journey. Born to Grime and adopted by Dubstep, Joker is reluctant to be classified, but his soul drenched productions have been described as Jehri Curl Boogie and Wiley stuck in an elevator with Cameo.
